Originally from the Hudson Valley of New York
State, Dan is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY,
with continued education in food and wine studies at their Napa Valley
campus. Executive Chef Dan Lewis has over forty years of professional kitchen experience. While many members may know Dan most recently as chef/owner of Coastal
Provisions Oyster Bar, Dan
also has experience in clubs and hotels in Atlanta and Washington, DC, and
prior to relocating to the Outer Banks in 2006, was Corporate Chef for
specialty food retailer Sutton Place Gourmet and Balducci's in the DC area, NY,
and CT. Dan is also a Certified Sommelier with the Court of
Master Sommeliers, and a Certified Specialist In Wine with the Society of Wine
Educators. He's been very involved in the OBX community, having served as
president of the Outer Banks Restaurant Association, the NC Coastal Federation
advisory board, and the Dare County Schools CTE advisory board. When not in the kitchen, Dan enjoys gardening -growing over
100 varieties of heirloom vegetables and herbs, spending time with his
partner, Amelia, toddler, Oliver, and looking forward to visits from his
daughter Meghan from her studies at UNCW.
