Department Head Staff:

Patrick O’Keefe, CCM

GM/COO

Patrick O’Keefe, the General Manager and Chief Operating Officer of Duck Woods Country Club, has over 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Patrick is a member of the PGA of America and the Club Manager’s Association of America. He has held positions such as CEO and Vice President with the some of the finest private, semi-private, public and resort golf facilities and hospitality companies in the world. Patrick is an accomplished tournament player and golf instructor, having previously taught at the Jack Nicklaus Academy of Golf.

Tom Wallwork

GCSAA, Director of Golf Operations

Our Director of Golf Operations, Tom Wallwork, is a Class A member of the GCSAA. He attended Edison Community College’s Turf/Golf Management Program while growing in The Strand and TwinEagles Country Club in Naples, FL. The Strand played host to the LPGA Memorial. TwinEagles is an Audubon Signature Course designed by Jack and Jackie Nicklaus and the club hosted the Office Depot Father/Son tournament and the Champion Tour’s Ace Group Classic. After spending five years as Assistant Superintendent at TwinEagles, Tom took a Superintendent position at Panama Country Club in Lynn Haven, Florida which then led to the opportunity to come to Duck Woods Country Club in March of 2005.

Hunter Prevatte

PGA, Head Golf Professional

Hunter graduated from Methodist University in Fayetteville, North Carolina, with a degree in business administration and concentration in the PGA Professional Golf Management program. Hunter is an accomplished player and an avid outdoorsman who enjoys fishing on the Outer Banks.

Fred Pfuhl

USPTA, Director of Tennis

During his 26 years as a tennis professional, Fred has amassed a great depth of experience as a Director of Tennis, facility owner and tennis commentator on television. Fred is a USPTA Pro 1/Elite Professional and a former two-time North Carolina state champion.
 

Thomas Finn

Executive Chef 

Chef Thomas has 28 years of experience in the hospitality industry with a concentration in the culinary field, ranging from line cook, Sous Chef and Executive Chef at country clubs, hotels, cruise lines and restaurants from around the country.  Chef Thomas has been formally trained at The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York and Baltimore International Culinary College in Baltimore, Maryland.

Karen Shepley

Food and Beverage Service Manager

Karen Shepley has over twenty years of food and beverage service experience from fine dining, banquet and casual dining restaurants at facilities in Virginia and the Outer Banks, where Karen and her family have lived for many years. Her philosophy is “Always make today better than yesterday.”
 

Lauren Mercer

Event Coordinator

Lauren is a native of Reading, Pennsylvania and grew up spending her summers in the Outer Banks.  Lauren has many years of hospitality experience, specifically in event management.  Lauren also has acquired many years of restaurant management experience with restaurants located on the Outer Banks.  Lauren states "I have always had a passion for event planning and I am excited to be a part of the Duck Woods Country Club hospitality team".  In her free time, she enjoys spending time at the beach with friends and with her cats.

Frankie Vincent

Director of Fitness

A Virginia native, Frankie Vincent has been providing personal training, nutritional guidance, rehabilitation and injury prevention for many years on the Outer Banks. He is a martial artist who competes professionally in Muay Thai, including numerous times in Thailand. Frankie has a passion for teaching and coaching. He believes that it doesn’t get any better than making new friends and helping them realize their health/fitness related goals. When not in the gym, Frankie enjoys surfing, playing volleyball and promoting positive health and nutrition guidance in our community.

Brooke Norris

Accounting Manager

Brooke Norris has an accounting degree from George Mason University and has been employed in the field since graduating in 2000. Brooke has worked on the Outer Banks since 2002 as a business owner and Senior Staff Accountant for a local accounting firm. She is well-versed in hospitality accounting, having worked for a national golf hospitality company as their Director of Accounting. Brooke and her family enjoy the beach.

Janet Barsalou

Office Manager

Janet Barsalou is the office manager at Duck Woods Country Club and has over 30 years experience in the country club industry. Janet worked previously at a Richmond, Virginia country club for 17 years. She and her husband moved to the Outer Banks in 1997.

Harry Simpson

Facility Maintenance Manager

Harry Simpson has over twenty years experience in facility maintenance. He has vast experience in construction and specializes in kitchen maintenance and refurbishment. Harry was a sound technician for Merle Haggard after graduation from high school. Harry, his wife and two children have been living on the Outer Banks since 2005.
